Create a dataset

A new dataset can be created by users with data publisher and group or organisation admin roles.

Describing a dataset

You start creating a new dataset on the Dashboard and you’ll need to add the dataset name and select a group where the dataset will be residing. Then, there’s a simple form that needs to be filled in to describe the dataset with its description and metadata. 

Adding data

When adding data to the dataset you’ll be prompted to confirm or configure the data schema and then you’ll need to select how the data will be published (file download and/or API endpoint). If you choose to publish the data via Plain or Spatial API, there will be a Data explorer section on the dataset page that will help the data consumers understand the data. If the data contains spatial data (latitude and longitude), and the spatial API is published, the map visualisation of the data will be also created.

Data owner/point of contact

The user who creates a dataset is added by default as the data owner/point of contact for the dataset. There’s an option to add additional users as well as replace them at a later time, if required. Data owner is the user who gets requests for access to the dataset.

Access settings

A dataset can have one of the three publishing statuses and two visibility levels assigned.
